There are a variety of activities available to our guests. Many adventures await you from our clean, comfortable, homey cabins!
The Beaverhead River, with famed Poindexter Slough are just down the lane from you. Or choose from 5 other blue ribbon trout rivers close by. The Big Hole River, the Jefferson River, The Madison River and the Ruby River are all within a reasonable jaunt, to fish for the day.
Southwest Montana is home to some of the very best big game hunting, from elk, Mule & Whitetail deer, moose, antelope and much more. Upland game bird hunting follows the big game season and Beaverhead County is home to a great array of birds.
Many great hiking trails are close by to explore; easy day trips or adventurous mountain lake trails in the Pioneers. You can raft, float, wade, or swim while enjoying breathtaking beauty. Bring along your fishing rod to catch Rainbow and Cutthroat Trout. Bring your camera to capture the spectacular views, moose, deer and occasional mountain goat or big horn sheep.
Just south of us is Clark Canyon Dam for sun, swimming, cliff jumping, boating, and jet skiing. Enjoy a lazy float down the Beaverhead River on tubes or kayaks.
ATV rentals are available in town in summer. In winter, snowmobile rentals are available just west of town. Maverick Mountain is just 30 minutes away. Take a soak in Jackson or Elk Horn Hot Springs when you are finished with your day on the ski hill!
Heading west, dig your own crystals at Crystal Park. Experience the historic ghost towns of Coolidge or Bannack. Heading east to the ghost town of Virginia City, experience an old-time candy shop, a real malt at the soda fountain shoppe, and take in a vaudeville show at the Follies, or Virginia City Players.
Beaverhead County is the largest county in Montana and includes a broad range of scenic and geologic diversity. Just 10 minutes south are hidden some prehistoric cave paintings. From the high mountain meadows and sub alpine peaks to expansive basins, Beaverhead County offers a rich natural and human history.
Bring your horses and enjoy the Pioneer Mountains on horseback. Goose Down Ranch offers a lovely, peaceful facility to lodge your horses that includes an oversized run, covered run-in shed, and auto-water. Also offered is a small arena. We offer a positive, clean, well-kept oasis for your horses. $20 per night per head. You supply your own hay.
Enjoy small-town Dillon, offering a beautiful golf course, community pool at the YMCA, Patagonia clothing outlet, antique shops, and delicious restaurants, coffee shops, microbrewery, and wine bar.
Dillon is home to University of Montana Western, with a scenic campus and several opportunities with their outreach programs to experience hands-on geological classes.
